Fantastic Voyage: Thumbnails for concept?

I'm still unsure of what style I want to go into but I like heavy contrast so most of the thumbnails above are inspired by bright lights and glows in dark places, like fireworks or sparklers. I have also included some character ideas incase my audience is aimed at a younger age.

Fantastic Voyage: Research and Inspiration

I like the style of this animation as the design is memorable. I heard/watched this years ago and it has stuck with me, its kind of newspaper meets comic, I haven't myself created something in this style before but I admire the 'box-iness' of it, I think with this style it would be a more mature approach.

Searching on Aniboom (Youtube Channel) this caught me eye due to the combination of 3D environments and animation with 2D across the top. I would like to mix up as much of my knowledge of animation as possible to hopefully create something wonderful. From watching this I can see more of a narrative approach if I were to use this 'dainty' young style.

Fantastic Voyage: Further Research and Influence Maps

I Have looked at Ricky Gervais' 'Flanimals', if I am to make the cells/spores etc into characters I will use this as inspiration.

With both influence maps I am trying to find a style that I'm comfortable with and that I can develop effectively, once I know who my audience is I will have a clearer understanding, though at this stage it seems to be a younger audience FOR NOW.

I have explained some keywords for myself to refer to later and add to once I have chosen my topic.

Fantastic Voyage: Topics

Impulse thoughts: I like the fern cycle as there is a variety of shape and I think it could become playful.

Impulse thoughts: I think with moss you instantly think of something more dirty, if I were to take this topic forward I would like the challenge of making moss 'pretty'.

Impulse thoughts: If I were to take this topic forward I imagine the movement of the slime to be more like a practiced dance routine, I would like to try and make slime seem elegant.

From Script to Screen: Bedroom Concept?

This is a possible concept for the bedroom, this is where the snow globe and comic book are. In all honesty I didn't want to put too much into the room as by my storyboard, we don't really see the room as a whole, only parts of it close up.

From Script to Screen: Snow Globe Concept RETHINK

This is an OVERLAY painting that I've done. I'm just trying to rough out a possible environment for the inside of my snow globe, I haven't included much as there isn't much space in a globe, also the smokey waves in the background are supposed to be Aurora Borealis.

From Script to Screen: Globe Concept? Possible Improvements?

This is possibly my concept for the snow globe. I have tried to use a light colour palette to add a sparkle to the scene, I have tried to make the trees and clouds look like 'cut-outs' as if they were a part of a stage set, also I think the grooves in the trees and ropes attached to the clouds add to this effect.

Possible, colour variations for my scene, I still prefer the original but do also like number 6 due to the vibrancy.

From Script to Screen: Possible Globe Concept

This is one possible Globe concept I've been working on and developing, I'm not too sure if I should put more in the space, and if so what? or leave it quite open with possibly the Aurora Borealis in the sky.

I'm trying to go for a more stylized approach as the scene needs to be real for the Eskimo but fake enough for the audience. I have been looking at Disneys 'Frozen' and Tim Burtons 'Night mare Before Christmas', and have decided on making the mountains and clouds look artificial with a touch of charm.
