Mise en Scene Film Review: Repulsion

1 comment:

  1. Hi Rosalyn
Sorry, this one seems to have slipped through the net!
Ok, a couple of points here - firstly, Carol is not Bulgarian!! From what I have been able to gather, she is Belgian... I think you probably misread it :)
Make sure that when you use a quote, the sentence still makes sense; you say for example ,

We start to see her lose parts of herself when she is supposed to cook a rabbit for dinner but forgets, as suggested by EmpireOnline "decay of her mind with the rotting of a rabbit”

What would have sounded better would have been something like,

We start to see her lose parts of herself when she is supposed to cook a rabbit for dinner but forgets; as suggested by EmpireOnline, Polanski 'parallels the decay of her mind with the rotting of a rabbit'

If you don't know the date of the quote, put s.d not Anon., which stands for anonymous.

One other sentence that has had it's meaning changed by missing out a word or two - you say

Carol is always looking to them as if she yearns for their purity and ‘cleansing’ ways, it is possible that she wants to join them to feel safer amongst a society of ‘sex-crazed men’

    I think you mean
Carol is always looking to them as if she yearns for their purity and ‘cleansing’ ways, it is possible that she wants to join them to feel safer, rather than live amongst a society of ‘sex-crazed men’.

    Bibliography is looking good now!
