Space and Environment: Thumbnail Sketches 25 - 40

These are my digital thumbnail sketches 25 - 40. I have duplicated some of my thumbnails then added/taken away elements, flipped and rotated them to create a new scene.

I personally like numbers 28 and 38 as I feel the composition works effectively. As you can see I have mainly focused on just the exterior of the castle, I would like to learn and challenge myself to different textures as I have decided this castle will look old and unkept.

  1. hi Rosaln :)
i can see that your thumbnails were really in structure with composition and perspective, personally like 28 and 36 as they have a connection from near to far :) and i also like your pencil sketching in the last post :)

    1. Thankyou :) , yeah I'm leaning more towards 28 or 27 as I could see 36 as more of a film still, theres not alot of info in it I feel

  2. Hey Rosalyn! The thumbnails feel like film stills! I like 25 and 31 because of this melodramatic essence to them as well as having a good depth to them. I think 29 could be a real good one, its got a feeling of depth but the castle feels abit flat and the possible addition of a faint background behind the castle would really pull it into the middle ground of the scene.

    2. Oooh maybe, if it doesn't conflict with the book and gets the feel your after, you could consider using an approaching thunderstorm as dramatic emphasis for the castle. :)

  3. Hello Rosalyn, the idea of flipping and rotating your thumbnails is a really good idea (one of which I may have to try out myself lol) and I can see your brain starting to tick even more over the same thumbnails but in a different manner. I too like 28 I think the way the mist goes over the bridge makes it look really far away, as if you shouldn't walk across it. 38 and 25 also grabbed my eye, I think its the image in the foreground that draws me too it :).

  4. Hey Rosalyn! There's something about 28 and 38's composition that I really like! The perspective works well in them 2 :) Especially 38 with that foreground element. It gives a lot of depth to the scene.
